We remember our school lunches as terrifying culinary adventures, and it seems the problem of public school meals is a timeless and global problem. 9-year-old Martha Payne lives in Scotland, and the sorry state of her school lunches inspired her to take action. At the end of April, she began photographing and reviewing her daily school meals on NeverSeconds, a blog she created with her dad to share her project. Within just two weeks, Martha’s blog gained international attention and her story was covered by the BBC and The Sun. Other children from around the world are sending Martha pictures of their own school lunches to post, and her hero Jamie Oliver sent her an autographed book to congratulate her for her efforts on the front lines of the healthy school lunch debate.

Gen Ys are so excited about the new Anchorman movie that the lastest trailer doesn’t have even one second of the upcoming film but is still being shared and watched all over the internet. Enjoy!
Filed Under: Come Fly With Me- Chronicle Campaign
The upcoming film Chronicle recently launched a campaign leading up to its theatrical release (this Friday) that may have had some New Yorkers doing a double take at the sky. The campaign used human-shaped gliders, which looked shockingly like actual flying people and inconspicuously flew them above Manhattan. Surprisingly few noticed the gliders flying overhead— as you’ll see in the video clip above, but where it failed with live crowds, the campaign has gained attention with the video above going viral.
The idea behind the campaign was to create a scene similar to the movie, in which the protagonists, a group of three high school buddies, gain superpowers— including the ability to fly. Three engineers guided the gliders from below with remote controls, making them sail across New York monuments like the Statue of Liberty and the skyline of downtown Manhattan.
Though minimalistic, this is exactly the kind of campaign to get Ys’ attention, perhaps not on the street, but in the blogosphere.

I discovered this magical site during the doldrums finals week last quarter. It went viral about the same point as Alexandra Wallace (attribute that disaster to the fact that all of UCLA was on Facebook at the time), and I was soon addicted to the type-and-giggle routine of fuckyeahnouns. The fun of surprise! The hilarity of mismatched pictures! First I tried everything in the room. Why does “fuck yeah couch” seem so humorous?! Then I tried all of my friends’ names…hours later, I still had to study for my econometrics midterm the next day, but at least I felt very positive about a lot of things in my life. Fuck yeah ____!!!!
There is a plethora of Fuck Yeah blogs on Tumblr, and a Fuck Yeah Directory organizes them all into a neat list of awesome distractions. From fuckyeahfightclub to fuckyeahyellow, there are actually some winners, like the well-edited fuckyeahmenswear and the original, fuckyeahsharks.
(Pardon my fuck word.)
