… And the rest is history. Chanel creative director, Karl Lagerfeld directed this darling black and white short about how the fashion empire started, with a seaside, hat stop in Deauville. Lagerfeld cast the face of the brand, Kiera Knightley as Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and his other muses, including Stella Tennant, Saskia De Brauw and Lindsey Wixon pop up in the supporting ensemble. The film give us a glimpse in Coco’s beginnings, a spectacular way to honor 100 years of Chanel.

When we came across this slide show, we couldn’t believe that we never saw the connection. With big, bold and out-of-the-box prints everywhere this year, turns out Ms. Frizzle, teacher of millenial children book series and television show The Magic School Bus, was way ahead of her fashion times. She loved to rock collared (sometimes of the Peter Pan variety), long-sleeve printed dresses that coordinated with her lesson of the day—meaning frocks of bees, dinosaurs, and sea life!
