With their latest collection, Coach has fashionistas singing, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game!” with newfound joy. For the ultimate in American heritage, Coach scouted out vintage baseball mitts—only those over 70 years old– to use for beautifully worn-in leather wallets in their new Heritage Baseball Collection. The men’s collection was inspired by Coach’s founder’s love of baseball and the company’s founding tenet that all leather goods should wear beautifully over time, just like a baseball mitt. We think this is a perfect catch for Father’s Day!

On the rainiest of spring days you wonder if it wouldn’t be worse to just be in full on winter; mud, city streams, chilling breezes, etc. Particularly too if you are trudging around in full on Hunter rain boots which have nothing in common with your every day ballet flats, how’s a girl to put some femininity back into spring?
Terra New York has debuted as a line of active rain wear that is transparent, good-looking, and tough enough for the urban cyclists among us!

Filed Under: Rami for Bebe Bridal

Last week, Trendera attended the NY launch of Bebe’s bridal line- designed by Project Runway alum (and draping extraordinaire) Rami Kashou. The event included champagne and wedding cake, as well as a look at Rami’s other wedding related collab- a line of stationary with invite go-to paperie Papyrus. First of all, so smart to do the two collabs simultaneously- and I guess if there are some voracious Rami fans getting married right now all their dreams just came true. Secondly, though the designer collab has become more an expected ploy than a pleasant surprise, the market for affordable but well-designed wedding accessories and fashion is certainly still lacking. We’ll be interested to see how Bebe’s line does!

The animals print trend that we called continues! The only question is—- is it too much for one girl to own TWO dresses with rabbit prints? I’ll have to order it from ASOS to find out I guess…
Filed Under: Final Fantasy is Wearing Prada

We love when niche interests combine to make one super-niche subject. Take British magazine Arena Homme+’s latest editorial of Final Fantasy characters wearing the latest Prada season (a marriage of niche interests in and of itself; western, Mr. Brady). Perfect idea, why is it so new?

Recently we have been loving all-over, busy prints - especially floral prints. In 1995, 17 years ago, Vogue printed this springy look…something that you might see on the runway today. The 90’s are definitely back! And not just in grunge but in glamour, too.

While women wearing rings is certainly nothing new, the trend we’re seeing has gone way beyond typical designs to the point where the “rings” have so much size and weight to them that they should really be called sculptures. And for the influencers getting down with this fashion trend one ring to rule them all is clearly not enough- stacking and donning a sculpture on every digit is the way to go.

Here’s to hoping we’re not over floral by fall because MSGM’s Pre-Fall collection is too great. Check out some of our favorite picks!

GANT Rugger by Michael Bastian recently launched a knife. No, not a kitchenware set, but one, beautifully crafted (in collaboration with Wildfire Cutlery), limited-edition cleaver knife. The knife was the take-away from Bastian’s Fall 2012 season show over a dinner at the Fat Radish on the Lower East Side.
Still, I can’t be the only one thinking that this is a little American Psycho, can I?

Filed Under: Italian Vogue’s Haute Mess

Italian Vogue has come under fire recently for having possibly encroached on racist-content territory with their latest ghetto-fab editorial Haute Mess, featuring model Lindsey Wixson drinking Colt 45 in a burger joint and other models sporting four-inch toenails…

Italian Vogue launched the first, and the only major fashion issue dedicated to black models in the fashion industry, the Black Issue in 2008. But rather than being received as a hit or miss editorial from a magazine that is more willing than others to stir up race politics in the fashion industry the shoot is being roundly criticized as racist. It seems that the offense lies in the composure of each model, and of the set up of the shoot; the content seems too overtly patronizing to be left alone as just fashion.

We often browse Etsy to find trends. It’s a great resource for gauging if a trend has caught on or is oversaturating the marketplace. There are sellers that prove to be great curators through their dependably desirable offerings but also through their product displays. I came across a seller today that is right on the money with her collection and her branding. Yard 666 Sale is waist deep in the 90’s fashion trend but also is creating psychedelic meme-like imagery to stand out from her competition. Sellers like this know it’s not only what you sell, it’s how you sell it. Gen Ys look for and appreciate quirky marketing that makes a brand feel personal.
