I’ll be posting a video soon, but here is a glimpse into the Cat Wedding that I hosted in my courtyard this weekend. Ticket wore something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. While Moscow the male black and white cat sported a red bow-tie. Post vows, the two ate wet food out of conjoined metal bowl welded by the father of the bride and printed with their names, the date, and the inscription “Til Death Do We Paw.”

Even for self-professed cat-lovers, kitteh-addictz, or crazy old cat-ladies, this is just too much. (Well, maybe not for this one woman that commented, “I always make fur balls just like this; and thought I was alone / insane for twisting kitty fur into rings to be kept as mementos. I love this idea.” No, you are insane.)
At first glance, the jewelry deceptively looked like felt. But a closer look reveals that this woman is literally adorned in hairballs. Created by Kate Benjamin of Moderncat, this “jewelry line” was released to celebrate National Hairball Awareness day “in style.” Hmmm….something tells me there are more significant things to be aware of than what kitty is coughing up.
Perhaps Maude can take a style point for the bridesmaids’ jewelry in the cat wedding…DIY hairball chic?

As some of you know I’m hosting a wedding this month in my courtyard—a cat wedding to be exact. In addition to buying 25 bags of white feathers for the alter, I have started collecting cat figurines to surround the wedding cake. The whole thing is becoming quite the production, with cat masks bought for all the attendees and Brian’s master DJ mix of cat songs with classic wedding cuts. So far peoples’ faces have either filled with horror or burst out laughing when I tell them about this wedding.
