Filed Under: Jewelry Inspired by the Peaks of NYC Skyscrapers
Pamela Love may usually find inspiration in the rolling plains of the southwest, but this season she was inspired by the architecture of her home city, New York. We love these architecturally-inspired gems, and that Moda Operandi is showcasing this designer.

You can subscribe to everything these days - underwear, jewelry, tshirts, entire wardrobes - it’s almost overwhelming. BaubleBar, a fast-fashion jewelry company, is now supplying the excitement factor without plaguing your credit card with another monthly charge. A promotion they released today simply asks a few questions including your favorite color scheme and clothing brand, then sends you three handpicked items from their upcoming line for $50. Sounds so good we might have to try it!

Enter Omerta, a jewelry line that lets you tell people how you really feel in a subtle and stylish way. Designer Anthony Dreyer embeds morse code into his necklaces and bracelets with diamonds, pearls and 14K gold beads. .. / .-.. —- …- . / -.— —- ..- means “I love you,” for instance. Dreyer previously worked on these “secret message” bracelets and necklaces for celebs and is offering them to the public for the first time. Jewelry designer Philip Crangi has teamed up with the creators of Ethos Water, Peter Thum and John Zapolski, to create Fonderie 47, a company that aims to reduce Africa’s 20 million assault weapons by turning the guns’ metal into jewelry. The endeavor has already helped remove more than 5000 AK-47s from the Congo. Each steel and gold signet ring finances the destruction of more than 75 guns and is etched with the serial number of the gun it once was. Is this social entrepreneurism too violently literal, or creatively humanitarian?

Even for self-professed cat-lovers, kitteh-addictz, or crazy old cat-ladies, this is just too much. (Well, maybe not for this one woman that commented, “I always make fur balls just like this; and thought I was alone / insane for twisting kitty fur into rings to be kept as mementos. I love this idea.” No, you are insane.)
At first glance, the jewelry deceptively looked like felt. But a closer look reveals that this woman is literally adorned in hairballs. Created by Kate Benjamin of Moderncat, this “jewelry line” was released to celebrate National Hairball Awareness day “in style.” Hmmm….something tells me there are more significant things to be aware of than what kitty is coughing up.
Perhaps Maude can take a style point for the bridesmaids’ jewelry in the cat wedding…DIY hairball chic?
Filed Under: Arrowheads On Point for Summer

More hipster than hippie, arrowheads are the latest jewelry trend shooting up. Badass, but not too badass, so you can still pull it off while wearing J.Crew. A little romantic, a little tough, arrowheads are right on point to both complement the season’s bold tribal prints and contrast with delicate, nude ethereal tops and dresses.

2. Urban Outfitters Stone Arrowhead Drop Earring, $10

So beautiful, and probably the least cheesy potentially romantic ring I’ve ever seen! Wood and wood grain have been designer favorites for a while now, but this is a great take.
