In a recent statement on her website, Lady Gaga has announced that her highly anticipated 2013 album release will be far from any traditional music record experience. The album Artpop will be a “multimedia experience that comes in different forms,” released as an app to be downloaded on mobile or computer devices—Lady Gaga is already advising her little monsters to ask for iPads for Christmas. Artpop is completely interactive and will include Gaga-themed chats, films, extra music, content, games, fashion updates, and magazines. The app establishes a live connection between the pop diva and her legions of fans as Lady Gaga will be continuously uploading new content to the app far past its release.  Though Björk first set the stage for interactive app albums last year with Biophilia, Lady Gaga’s album may be a bigger step into shaping the next generation of album and entertainment releases, taking a single album from a static entity to a constantly evolving digital world.
