Filed Under: Sheepdogs Out of Work

False alarms from boys-who-cry-wolf are no longer an issue for today’s modern shepherds: now, they can be alerted when their sheep are threatened by four-legged foes via text message. A special sheep collar that is still in development registers rapid heart rate changes, and when a sheep’s heart rate reaches a certain threshold, it delivers a repellant (either in spray or sound form, which is yet to be determined) to deter the attack. Though it may not be the next big thing in America, word is that shepherds all over Europe are flocking to the collars, which are much easier (and cheaper) to maintain than an army of sheepdogs!
