Filed Under: Nonoo Pre Fall 2012

Was invited to preview Misha Nonoo’s Nonoo last week in The Standard New York’s Highline Room and it was superb! Filled with inspiration of the eternally chic Anouk Aimee (if you can remember the brunette in Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, she is the ultimate cool heiress/temptress juxtaposed against the larger than life blonde actress Anita Ekberg), but morever, a very contemporary ladylike cool that seems reenergized for fall.

The short film campaign for Nonoo’s Pre Fall 2012 played next to the models and anchored the entire experience in what seemed like a very thoughtful homage to classic french taste (though the designer is a brit) with strolls through the Tuilerie gardens and Francoise Sagan references to boot. And yet I have to say there was nothing retro about the sweater tops at Nonoo, the tailoring was exceptionally current in an industry where “the cut” or “the fit” changes in one season, or many times in one season depending which decade we are referencing.

Beauty-wise, the hair was corn-rowed around the top of the head like a little crown of tight, messy braids that made everything less polished and cooler (reminded me of Alexander Wang’s little hair-clip helmets), with hot pink lips and a generally clean look.

Through and through a wonderful show! Thanks to Misha, and Jacqui Wenzel!
